# Is Sea Moss Vegan, Halal, Kosher, or Keto? The Honest Rundown
Short answers up front: sea moss is a seaweed — a plant from the ocean — so raw sea moss and unflavored gel are vegan by nature. Our flavored gels add only fruit puree and purified water. We don't hold halal, kosher, or gluten-free certifications, so below is exactly what's in each product line, so you (or your certifier) can decide with the full picture.

## Is sea moss vegan?

Yes. Sea moss is a marine alga — no animal involvement at any point. Our raw sea moss is the dried seaweed alone; our gels are seaweed, purified water, and (in flavored jars) fruit puree. No gelatin, no dairy, no honey, no animal-derived processing aids. The [moss pops](/sea-moss-pops/) and [refreshers](/sea-moss-drinks/) follow the same pattern: sea moss, water, real fruit.

## Is sea moss halal?

Sea moss itself is a plant, and every ingredient we add is plant-derived — no alcohol, no animal products. We are not halal-certified, though: no certifying body has audited our Houston kitchen. If certification matters for your household, the full ingredient list is on every product page, and we'll answer any process question at [info@yaowseamoss.net](mailto:info@yaowseamoss.net).

## Is sea moss kosher?

Same honest answer: seaweed and fruit are inherently kosher-suitable ingredients, but our kitchen isn't kosher-certified and doesn't have rabbinical supervision. What we can promise is total ingredient transparency — nothing goes in a jar that isn't on the label.

## Is sea moss gluten-free?

No ingredient we use contains gluten — seaweed, fruit, and water don't. We're a small kitchen, not a certified gluten-free facility, so celiac households should weigh that. The ingredient list on each product page is complete.

## Does sea moss fit keto, paleo, or Whole30-style eating?

Raw sea moss and unflavored gel are extremely low in calories and carbohydrates — a tablespoon of gel is nearly all water and soluble fiber — so they slot into low-carb eating easily. Flavored gels and refreshers include real fruit puree, which carries natural fruit sugar; check the label if you're counting carbs strictly. Nothing we make contains added refined sugar, grains, or seed oils.

## What about allergies?

Sea moss is a seaweed; people with severe shellfish or iodine-related concerns should read our [research page](/sea-moss-research/) on iodine content and talk to their clinician. Our products are made in a kitchen that handles fruit; every jar's label lists everything inside. Questions about a specific allergen: [ask us directly](/contact/) — a person answers.
